This econometric study covers the world outlook for Schiffli machine embroidery across more than 200 countries. For each year reported, estimates are given for the latent demand, or potential industry earnings (P.I.E.), for the country in question (in millions of U.S. dollars), the percent share the country is of the region and of the globe. These comparative benchmarks allow the reader to quickly gauge a country vis-à-vis others. Using econometric models which project fundamental economic dynamics within each country and across countries, latent demand estimates are created. This report does not discuss the specific players in the market serving the latent demand, nor specific details at the product level. The study also does not consider short-term cyclicalities that might affect realized sales. The study, therefore, is strategic in nature, taking an aggregate and long-run view, irrespective of the players or products involved. This study does not report actual sales data (which are simply unavailable, in a comparable or consistent manner in virtually all of the 230 countries of the world). This study gives, however, my estimates for the worldwide latent demand, or the P.I.E., for Schiffli machine embroidery. It also shows how the P.I.E. is divided across the world's regional and national markets. For each country, I also show my estimates of how the P.I.E. grows over time (positive or negative growth). In order to make these estimates, a multi-stage methodology was employed that is often taught in courses on international strategic planning at graduate schools of business.

Almost every piece of embroidery, including quilting or soft furnishings, needs finishing or edging - maybe just a simple hem or binding but more often a truly decorative finishing that enhances the textile. So often these finishing techniques are an afterthought, but they should be designed when the textile is designed, should use the same style of stitching and, often, the same threads of fabrics. This book - from one of the UK's leading machine embroiderers - gives a library of possibilities, which can be used creatively, developed further and made more individual by the reader. It is ideal for the less-experienced machine embroiderer but a great sourcebook for the more advanced. Each edging and finishing method is covered in a double-page spread with instructive text, diagrams and colour photography placed together for clarity. The methods given include designs for wall hangings, panels, book covers, bags, vessels, bowls, cushions, belts, tassels and other accessories. Any modern sewing machine will do all the stitching suggested here.

Embroidery Thread Tips for Better Machine Embroidery Sewing

!: Embroidery Thread Tips for Better Machine Embroidery Sewing

I have some tips for you to get better results with using your embroidery threads in machine embroidery sewing.

1. If you're experiencing thread breakage or have had finished designs bleeding onto your garments after laundering, you're probably still using rayon thread! The polyester embroidery threads are stronger and more colorfast. Always remove your embroidered garments from the washer immediately, this will help eliminate the bleeding. For the breakage, try lowering your tension, rayon threads are the weakest of the embroidery threads.

I've been using a commercial polyester thread, ARC embroidery thread for over a year now and getting fantastic results. Never a break and it launders beautifully time after time. The embroidery is still gorgeous even after the garment is worn out. The arc thread currently has 288 colors!

2. If you're experiencing a heavy build up on the back of your designs, try using the only pre-wound bobbin that works trouble-free in our machines. They are precision wound with 132 yds per bobbin, of continuous filament polyester, which runs with less lint. Not only do they decrease the amount of build up-I don't have to clean out my machine as often!

3. If you've given up on using metallic thread because of the breakage and other problems that are common to metallics, you haven't tried the best yet! In my opinion there's only one metallic that I'll spend my time using - Mon-Rex commercial grade metallic thread. It is a true 40 wt. & requires no special lubricants or other than normal tension settings. I don't use a special needle either! It comes in 21 gorgeous colors on 1000-1080 yd cones.

For the "other" brands you may want to try the following:

1. Always feed metallic thread from the side of the cone/spool or it will kink.
2. Lower the upper tension.
3. Use a larger eye needle or metallic needle.
4. Do not use any lubricants in our machines - they will ruin our auto tension disks!

Perfect Embroidery Placement on Your Garment

!: Perfect Embroidery Placement on Your Garment

Have you ever hooped a shirt more than once? Have you ever spent a lot of time and money on a special project just to have it look a little off when you take it out of your hoop? These will always be issues if you are not using a consistent method to your hooping techniques. This issue really hit home for me when I pulled out one of my early embroidery projects and noticed that it was practically on the shoulder! It also made me wonder how many shirts I had done in my earlier years in the industry that we this far off. I must say in my own defense back then that there weren't the tools and resources available to me that there is today. Thank god for the internet, right?

Ultimately the placement of your embroidery is very important as such is the alignment. I don't think there is an embroiderer out there that didn't pull something out of the hoop and realized that it looked like it was running up hill or down. The best piece of advise that I got to help with this came from my husband who is into wood working. He said to me: "Honey you need to measure twice and cut once". Of course this is a golden rule for wood working and I believe we should all apply to every embroidery project that we tackle because after all you really just want to embroider the garment or project once and I have yet to meet an embroiderer that enjoys removing stitching!

So as promised here are some common garments and the placement measurements for each. Please keep in mind that each shirt manufacturer is different and that these can vary.

Polo Shirt, T-Shirts, Sweatshirts with a small Design
7.5 to 9 inches down from where the collar and the shoulder seam come together.

T-Shirts & Sweatshirts with Full Front Design
The top of the design should be 3-3.5 inches down from the bottom of the neck. In order to figure this accurately you will need to know the distance from the center point of the design to the top.

Over Pocket
Center on the pocket not the shoulder seem as previously mentioned. You also may need to adjust the machine form the center point of the center depending on your hoop.

Jackets
6-8 inches down and 3.5-4 inches from the center

It is important to understand that these are based off the top of your design. Each design that you sew will have a different height and therefore will need to account to that by taking these numbers then adding to them half your design height in order to find the center of the design. So for example if your design is 10 inches tall your center point for your design would be approximately 8 inches from the bottom of the neck for full font embroidery.

Quick Machine Embroidery Projects For Kids

!: Quick Machine Embroidery Projects For Kids

Machine embroidery for kids is a dying art, although there are so many project possibilities they would enjoy. Part of the decline has to do with the fact that traditional embroidery is completed by hand and limited to a few designs with varying degrees of difficulty. With the increased technology advances in embroidery, machines give a broader range of design capabilities as well as faster results. Initially excited, the investment in machine embroidery seemed fun and full of possibilities with hopes of creating projects that kids would absolutely love. Over time the machine felt useless, turning knobs and touching buttons without producing any real results. If out of ideas on what to make with machine embroidery, try one of these simple projects that kids love!

Every year kids bring home new books to be covered the first day of school in most areas. As a kid, you may have used brown paper bags or Kraft paper, but the new hip fad is the expensive stretch covers that can be purchased at your local school supply store. With a little time, you can make fabric covers for all books, using fabrics that are kid-friendly. The easiest method for measuring your covers would be to fold the fabric around the book and inside the cover as one would with craft paper. Using pins, place where necessary to keep it together; Hem all edges and finish basic shape of cover so that it can easily be slipped onto books. This is a plain cover, but can be taken a step further. Using machine embroidery, books can be decorated with embroidered images and even the subject and your child's name. With subjects like math, reading, and social studies, the combinations are seemingly endless!

Children love to see their names on things, which is why it can be found all over the place, like on the walls, important work presentations, and even jeans. One of the most satisfying displays of ownership is their names on their door. Opened or closed, children know that this particular space in the house is theirs, where they can be themselves or the place where they are banished when in trouble. Using machine embroidery, you can stitch names as well as machine embroidered designs that fit their personalities for a quick project. Framing this fabric will give an extra touch, and you can hang it directly by a nail on the door or use a ribbon attached to the back for flair. Using different shapes and colors of frames for each child will give unique variety. For a more challenging project, use small hand-size frames to design one machine embroidery design letter in each and hang in different ways.

While lamination is a great option to preserve family memories such as letters or family portraits, using machine embroidery design gives the flexibility to be more involved in the process. First, trace the image onto freezer paper, then iron until the paper is attached to fabric. Use an embroidery machine to embroider over lines, being as careful as you would with any other project, changing colors as necessary. Or you can choose suitable embroidery designs for kids from a large online store. After you have completed these steps, remove your freezer paper to reveal your memory! This item can now be framed or if they are notes, stories, or letters, you can bind them for a special gift!
